No More Silver Mouth
Tooth-colored inlays/onlays
Modern dental practice has made noticeable dentistry a thing of the
past. One of the ways we’re achieving this is by using natural-looking
porcelain, cast glass, or resin inlays and onlays. They function like a
crown, but require the removal of less tooth structure, including
healthy tooth matter. This means less chance of a root canal for you,
and because so much tooth is saved, your future treatment options remain
flexible.
Why is this so important? The stresses exerted by daily chewing and
grinding eventually wear down teeth, silver mercury fillings, and
tooth-colored restorations. Fillings may start to leak around their
edges, allowing bacteria into the tooth, resulting in tooth decay if not
treated. Continuous biting pressure can also create cracks on surface
fillings and crowns. If cracks are not repaired in time, the tooth may
break or chip, requiring larger and more expensive restoration. It may
even lead to nerve damage and/or tooth loss.
Tooth-colored inlays and onlays are custom designed by our technician
using a precise replica of your tooth. They are formed to fit and fill
most types of cavities like a puzzle piece. Once glued in they not only
seal and strength the tooth but, they look and feel great!
With proper brushing and flossing inlays and onlays can last many years.
They are easy to clean, repair, or renew. We recommend them and we
welcome your questions.
